This page relates to crop mutations. For pet mutations, see pet mutations.
Overview
Mutations are special features of crops which provide multipliers to sell value and hunger restore value. They may be obtains through certain weather events, potions, be granted by pet abilities or appear naturally. Crops cannot lose mutations (ie: frozen crops cannot defrost), but they may be transformed into other mutations. Players may track their progress of gathering mutations in the Garden Journal. Currently there are 11 crop variants, of which 9 are mutations:
- Normal
- Wet
- Chilled
- Frozen
- Dawnlit
- Amberlit
- Gold
- Rainbow
- Dawnbound
- Amberbound
- Max Weight
Wet

Wet is the most common mutation, gained during the Rain weather event. During this event, every mature crop has a 7% chance per minute of gaining the Wet mutation. This mutation provides a X2 multiplier. Crops which already have the Chilled mutation instead gain the Frozen mutation, providing a larger X10 multiplier.
The player can also apply the Wet mutation to crops using a Wet Potion, obtained from the Carnival Stand.

Chilled

The Chilled mutation is gained during the Frost weather event. During this event, every mature crop has a 7% chance per minute of gaining the Chilled mutation. This mutation provides a X2 multiplier. Crops which already have the Wet mutation instead gain the Frozen mutation, providing a larger X10 multiplier.
The player can also apply the Chilled mutation to crops using a Chilled Potion, obtained from the Carnival Stand.

Frozen

The Frozen mutation is obtained from Wet crops during the Frost weather event, or Chilled crops during Rain. In both cases, every mature crop with the required mutation has a 7% chance per minute of gaining the Frozen mutation. This mutation provides a X10 multiplier, making it essential for maximizing profit. A crop cannot have the Frozen mutation at the same time as Chilled or Wet.
The player can also apply the Chilled mutation to crops using a Frozen Potion, obtained from the Carnival Stand.

Dawnlit

The Dawnlit mutation is gained during the Dawn weather event. During this event, every mature crop has a 1% chance per minute of gaining the Dawnlit mutation. This mutation provides a X2 multiplier, and stacks additively with Wet/Chilled/Frozen. The Dawnlit mutation is mutually exclusive with the Amberlit mutation.
The player can also apply the Dawnlit mutation to crops using a Dawnlit Potion, obtained from the Carnival Stand.
Crops with the Dawnlit mutation adjacent to a Dawnbinder crop, have a 25% chance per minute during Dawn events of gaining the more powerful Dawnbound mutation, providing a larger X3 multiplier.

Amberlit

The Amberlit mutation is gained during the Amber Moon weather event. During this event, every mature crop has a 1% chance per minute of gaining the Amberlit mutation. This mutation provides a X5 multiplier, and stacks additively with Wet/Chilled/Frozen. The Amberlit mutation is mutually exclusive with the Dawnlit mutation.
The player can also apply the Amberlit mutation to crops using a Amberlit Potion, obtained from the Carnival Stand.
Crops with the Amberlit mutation adjacent to a Moonbinder crop, have a 25% chance per minute during Amber Moon events of gaining the more powerful Amberbound mutation, providing a larger X6 multiplier.

Gold
Gold is a rare mutation that appears in 1% of newly planted crops. There are no weather events which apply this mutation, but the player can apply the Gold mutation to crops using a Gold Potion, obtained from the Carnival Stand. Pets with the Gold Granter ability have a small chance to apply the Gold mutation to a random crop. The Gold mutation provides a massive X25 multiplier, which stacks multiplicatively with wet/lunar mutations.
Crops with the Gold mutation are yellow/gold in colour, distinguishing them from their regular counterparts.
Rainbow
Rainbow is a very rare mutation that appears in 0.1% of newly planted crops. There are no weather events which apply this mutation. Pets with the Rainbow Granter ability have a small chance to apply the Rainbow mutation to a random crop. The Rainbow mutation provides a gargantuan X50 multiplier, the largest in the game, which stacks multiplicatively with wet/lunar mutations. The Rainbow and Gold mutations are mutually exclusive; a single crop can only have one of them.

Dawnbound

During the Dawn lunar event, any crops with the Dawnlit mutation and adjacent to a Dawnbinder crop, have a 25% chance per minute of gaining the Dawnbound mutation, which provides a X3 multiplier.

Amberbound

During the Amber Moon lunar event, any crops with the Amberlit mutation and adjacent to a Moonbinder crop, have a 25% chance per minute of gaining the Amberbound mutation, which provides a X6 multiplier.

Max Weight
Although not a mutation, Max Weight is recorded as a crop variant alongside mutations in the Garden Journal. Max weight applies only to size 100 crops (the largest possible). The size of a crop can be checked by hovering over its weight. Obtaining weight 100 crops is possible naturally, but made far easier with Crop Size Boost pets.
